Time zone converter
What time is 10:00 in Madrid for someone in Mexico City or Buenos Aires? The answer changes through the year, because Europe, the United States and some of Latin America move their clocks on different dates and others never do. This converter uses the official time zone database for the date you pick.
- Date there

The formula
Time there = time here − offset here + offset there. Each offset comes from the IANA time zone database for that exact date, so summer time is applied only where and when it is in force. The overlap counts the hours when 09:00–18:00 in one place meets 09:00–18:00 in the other.
Worked example
On 23 October 2026, 10:00 in Madrid is 02:00 in Mexico City: an 8-hour difference, with one hour of shared office time. On 15 December it is 03:00, a 7-hour difference, because Spain has left summer time and Mexico no longer uses it.
How to use it
- 1Pick the date of the call or meeting; the difference can change by an hour depending on it.
- 2Type the time in 24-hour form, such as 09:30 or 17:00.
- 3Check the Day line: a late evening in Europe is often the same afternoon in the Americas, and an evening in America is the next morning in Asia.
Questions people ask
Why does the difference between Spain and Mexico change?
Spain moves its clocks forward on the last Sunday of March and back on the last Sunday of October. Mexico abolished summer time in most of the country in 2022, so the gap is 8 hours in the European summer and 7 in winter.
Does Argentina change the clocks?
No. Argentina stays on UTC−3 all year. Chile and Paraguay do change, in the southern summer, which is the opposite half of the year to Europe.
Why are the Canary Islands listed separately?
They run one hour behind mainland Spain all year, on the same time as London and Lisbon.
